Pool Care

How does a Pool work? Simple explanation!

Discover how your pool works and functions like a living organism.

One Minute Read Summary

Your pool acts like a body, with its own circulation system:

•The pump is the "heart" of this process and sucks water through skimmers and drains, removing floating particles along the way

•Once the water gets to the pump continues to run to the Filter, where debris gets caught

•Once the water is filtered continues to the Heater where of course gets heated

•And last continues through the Chlorinator or the Salt cell in the case is a Salt Pool

After that process, the sanitized water gets returned to the Pool through the Return Jets

Parts involved in the Process

•Pump

Just like you need your heart, your Pool needs a pump. Not only does the powerful pump help filter water for temperature control or keep the chemical balance intact, but also helps sweep away large debris with its sophisticated basket mechanism. Plus, any extra decorative features you've added like fountains depend on that same trusty little engine to get them running smoothly as well. Here is more information about the types of pumps

•Skimmer and Drains

The main drain in the deepest part of your pool sucks up water into the pump and filter, larger pools may even have multiple drains for extra protection against dirt and debris.

Smaller floating particles are also filtered through one or more Skimmers located on the surface of your pool, they help to catch stuff like leaves.

•Filter

It’s a gatekeeper that stops debris from entering your pool, so you need to make sure it stays up-to-date on its duties by keeping it cleaned regularly. There are 3 different kinds of filters out there: sand, cartridge, and DE – each one doing its best for pristine swimming conditions. No matter if you have an above-ground or below-ground setup, every pool requires some kind of filtration system; just point the pump directly at them before sending all cleaned-up water back into the depths. Here is information about the types of Filters and How to clean them

•Heater

This allows you to have dreamy waters all year round. There are different types, from gas-powered for maximum heating power to electric or solar ones. Here is more information about heaters

•Salt Generator

This system uses a magical process known as electrolysis that generates chlorine from salt, reducing the need for regular chemical maintenance. Here is more information about Salt systems

•Chlorinator

This device adds chlorine directly to your pool's plumbing lines so you don't have to worry about manually adding it or using floating dispensers. Is always placed after the Pump filter system and heater to avoid eroding these parts, chlorine is a powerful chemical.
